Six students from the Software Engineering Technology (TRPL) Program at UGM took part in an internship program at PT Wahana Makmur Sejati as Web Developers. The internship took place from September 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025. Two students, Daffa Askar Fathin and Miftah Sabirah, joined the program onsite at the company’s office, while the other four Naufal Tri Subakti, Fayyadh Arrazan Miftakhul, Isan Faizun Hidar, and Muhammad Hanif Sauqi participated remotely.
Throughout the internship, the students were involved in the development of an internal web-based information system to support the company’s dealership operations. The system includes features such as sales data recording, inventory management, customer handling, stock transfers between branches, and order processing. This project provided them with valuable technical insights as well as practical understanding of real-world business requirements at scale.
During the program, they honed their skills in PHP frameworks, learned to manage complex databases with large numbers of tables, and practiced collaborative development using Git. Beyond technical skills, the students also gained first-hand experience in understanding workplace culture, effective communication, and maintaining a high level of professionalism in an industrial environment.
The participants hope that future internship programs can be more structured and aligned with the learning outcomes set by the department. They also suggest that a clearer and more guided recruitment process from selection to interviews would further enhance the quality of internships for both students and industry partners.
